Our targets aligning with global goals

Sustainability has been part of Alufluor since the beginning. We continue to build on that foundation, and since 2020 we have aligned our company goals with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, helping clarify our global impact. Today, sustainability is fully integrated across all levels of our business strategy.

Through a double materiality assessment, Alufluor has identified SDGs 7, 8, 12, 13, and 14 as the most relevant to our impact. We focus on increasing our positive contributions and reducing negative impacts, aiming to set the standard for a circular and sustainable industry.

Our circular business model, built on the recovery and reuse of Fluorosilicic acid (FSA) and other materials, is fundamental and supports almost all the identified goals.

Our dedication to safe, fair, and inclusive working conditions is central to our identity, and in line with Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Our ongoing culture work and company values foster a collaborative, respectful environment where people thrive.

On the environmental side, we actively contribute to Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and Goal 13 (Climate Action) through our use of 100% renewable electricity and biogas as of 2025, minimising our carbon footprint. In addition, our product – Aluminium Fluoride (AlF₃) – supports energy efficiency for our customers in aluminium production.

Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) is supported both by our wide-ranging efforts to improve operational efficiency – such as our participation in the iWAYS project – and by our commitment to resource circularity. This includes the recycling of fluorine from other industries and the repurposing of our own waste streams into valuable products. These efforts reduce our dependence on mined resources and help prevent pollution across the value chain. The recovery of fluorine from external sources also contributes to Goal 14 (Life Below Water) by preventing harmful substances from reaching marine ecosystems.
