Circularity is our foundation

Our vision and offerings are rooted in our circular foundation – we were built to repurpose waste fluorine.

Only recycled fluorine is used

Alufluor stands for circularity and sustainability and our mission is to repurpose fluorosilicic acid (FSA), a by-product of the fertiliser industry often discharged into the ocean. Instead, we utilize FSA to produce aluminium fluoride (AlF3), a key material in aluminium smelting.

Only 13% of global AlF3 production uses recycled fluorine, with most relying on mined fluorspar. In our process, FSA reacts with aluminium hydroxide to form AlF3, while silica is extracted and reused in fertiliser production, creating a closed-loop system.

Zero Waste – everything re-purposed

Alufluor has a long-standing and proud tradition of optimising production processes and fostering industrial collaborations. Since 1995, this focus has enabled us to repurpose all of our production by-products, reaching a zero solid waste milestone that reflects our commitment to circularity and continuous improvement. We also ensure the responsible handling of hazardous waste, with nothing sent to landfill.
