Since 1973, we have been a circularity driven producer of premium, low-bulk-density aluminium fluoride (AlF3). Our product plays a key role in primary aluminium production, contributing to lower electricity consumption, and we supply aluminium smelters worldwide. We also provide various premium AlF3 grades and related products to optimize quality and efficiency across industries.
Since the very start, Alufluor has been based on a circular economy. Our premium AlF3 is made exclusively from recycled fluorine, saving virgin resources.
The recovered fluorine comes to us as fluorosilicic acid (FSA), a byproduct from other industries where it would otherwise have been disposed of as waste. The largest source is the fertilizer industry through phosphoric acid production. In our process, the silica from FSA is separated as a by-product, and the fertilizer producers use it again to capture additional fluorine, in a continuous circular process.
